How We Can Help?

Hedge cutting and hedge trimming are areas of expertise for Reynold’s Landscaping. We deal with all types and sizes of hedges. We find that the breadth and scale of jobs undertaken varies tremendously. Reynold’s Landscaping tackles jobs with wisteria covering whole houses and also cutting back 200-metre-long boundary hedges. However, at the opposite end of the spectrum, we also tend to tiny box hedges where precision is key.

Our customers call on our hedge cutting services for a whole range of reasons. Maybe a hedge has grown too far onto the pavement or is obscuring windows, doors and views or maybe the hedge trimming job just feels too much for a customer to undertake themselves.

What types of hedges do we deal with?

  • Wisteria – A lovely purple flower, Wisteria grows profusely and needs pruning twice a year.
  • Leylandii and Fern – A common evergreen border hedge. They can get out of control if not cut back at least once a year.
  • Beech – Beech hedges look wonderful in the autumn as the leaves turn brown. Regular care ensures they look good all year round. Careful maintenance ensures that the hedge remains thick and coverage healthy.
  • Laurel and Privet – Evergreen and very shapely, these hedges can be cut to shape with regular care and attention. We can also offer Topiary as a hedge trimming service.
  • Rose, Wild Cherry, Yew…and many, many more.

Hedge cutting Information

In our experience the most important aspect of hedge cutting is timing; different species of hedge plants require trimming at differing times of the year, but even more importantly, we would suggest that the bird nesting season is avoided (this might be any time between mid-February to mid-August, depending on the species of bird) unless you can be sure there are no nesting birds present. It is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to cause damage to or disturb nesting birds. Down to Earth will be pleased to advise on timing if required.
